MZ Media Inc. Chooses SDS, Canada's Leading Supplier of Broadcast Management Software

Ottawa, Ontario – November 3, 2008 – Toronto-based Specialty Data Systems (SDS) Inc., a leading North American provider of broadcast management software, has announced that broadcast innovator MZ Media Inc. of Toronto has chosen the SDS unified technology solution for its three Ontario radio stations.

The radio stations, CFMZ 96.3 and CFZM AM740 in Toronto and CFMX 103.1 in Cobourg – launched in May – have installed the SDS Symphony unified broadcast management software. Combining data from sales, traffic, programming, operations and accounting, the technology provides the broadcaster with instantaneous communication between all three stations that maximize the organization’s efficiency and profits.

“We needed a robust, flexible system that could be tailored towards our needs and SDS Symphony fit the bill, giving us access to an enterprise-wide, consolidated view of our entire radio operation,” said George Grant, President and CEO of MZ Media Inc., whose radio stations – headed by legendary Canadian broadcaster Moses Znaimer – are geared towards the “zoomer” population.

“We chose SDS because of their innovative product, high level of support and accessibility and willingness to work with us to satisfy our requirements,” Grant explained. “We also like the fact that they’re Canadian.”

SDS Symphony provides broadcasters with a common database to integrate sales, traffic, programming, finance and operations, enabling faster implementation and eliminating the need for data reentry and cross-verification. The system allows a two-way flow of data that can be shared across departments without the need to re-key information or use paper. With SDS, users access information on-line in real-time, filtered and formatted to meet their particular needs, whether they’re programming airtime, booking orders, scheduling promos, or producing sales and commission reports.

Traffic revisions are communicated instantly, sales representatives have real-time access to booking availability and can provide immediate booking confirmations, management reports are always up-to-date, and credit rules can be enforced in real time,” said Dave Cole, President of SDS, emphasizing that the SDS solution gives broadcasters the automated tools they need to maintain market share, increase revenue and reduce costs.

“Whether broadcasters have one radio or television station or multiple outlets, SDS helps them unify their operations,” said Cole. “Our solution gives broadcasters the opportunity to operate more efficiently, better manage their data, reduce redundancies, and easily adapt to the technological changes that challenge the industry.”
