Leading Canadian Provider of Broadcast Management Software, SDS, Announces Expanded Contract with Crossroads Television System
Toronto, Ontario – November 12, 2007 – Toronto-based SDS, a leading Canadian provider of broadcast management software, has announced that Crossroads Television System (CTS), an Ontario-based conventional television network, has extended its use of SDS’s innovative technology to its two new Alberta-based stations. The broadcaster, based in Burlington, Ontario, installed SDS/Traffic and SDS/Proposal – which it has been using since 2001 – at both CKCS-TV in Calgary and CKES-TV in Edmonton within a day, immediately leveraging the benefits of the technology. According to Glenn Stewart, CTS Director of Sales and Marketing, not only does SDS’s technology help increase the efficiency of the stations, but the ability for SDS to grow with the broadcaster as its network grows is also what sold CTS on the technology. In addition, “extending SDS’s software throughout our network has saved our stations money,” he said. SDS/Traffic and SDS/Proposal are part of SDS’s leading enterprise-wide broadcast management system, called SDS Symphony – used by television stations, radio stations and cable networks across Canada and in the U.S. SDS Symphony is the only proven all-in-one broadcast management system integrating sales, traffic, programming, finance and operations, enabling a two-way, real-time flow of data to be shared across departments and eliminating the need to re-key information or use paper. Both SDS/Proposal and SDS/Traffic can be used as stand-alone applications or unified components of SDS Symphony.SDS/Proposal is a powerful, easy-to-use sales presentation tool, designed to help sales representatives quickly prepare, and electronically send, custom-tailored proposals. Among the features of SDS/Proposal are the ability to: automatically build proposals in seconds, based on accurate, consolidated network data available in real time; send and receive orders electronically to and from traffic operations; speed up sales approvals via electronic routing; and combine or separate data as desired from an unlimited number of television and radio stations, or networks, for presentations or buys. SDS/Traffic is a unified system that uniquely combines order entry, billing and invoicing with programming – setting it apart from traditional systems where outside components may not integrate with a station’s software. Features of SDS/Traffic – which incorporates an unlimited number of television and radio stations or networks and can be remotely accessed from anywhere – include the ability to: book contracts without a schedule in existence, and include airtime and non-airtime items on the same contract; customize spot placements, which can be of any length, for alternate weeks; produce and customize an unlimited number of alternate logs; and have program changes automatically filtered down through the system to log editing. “The full suite of SDS’s technology focuses on results, and by centralizing information in real time, it effectively reduces redundancies and costs, and increases profits,” said SDS’s Anderson. “The system can also easily adapt to changes in the marketplace and stations’ evolving requirements, giving broadcasters better clarity and control of their information, and greater opportunity for success in today’s competitive market.” About SDS Established in 1993, SDS is a leading provider of broadcast management software, offering a unique unified, on-line approach to sales, traffic, programming, operations and accounting.
